The external evaluation of the Department of Management Science and Technology (DMST) of the Athens University of Economics and Business by a five-member committee of distinguished professors in highly recognized Universities of Great Britain and the USA (Aston University, London School of Economics, Imperial College London, California State University and Cardiff University) was successfully completed on December 10th, 2013.

The committee was established by the Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQAA - ΑΔΙΠ) and, following a three-day on-site visit (18-20/11/2013), evaluated the department’s activities. The committee focused on issues related to the quality and effectiveness in research and teaching, the study program structure, the quality of administrative services and infrastructures as well as the link between student studies and faculty activities on the one hand and the job market and societal, cultural and industrial institutions on the other.

The comments of the evaluation committee were very supportive of the practices followed in the department since its establishment, which aim at quality and innovation, thus encouraging DMST members to continue to work for the emergence and promotion of excellence in university education. According to the external evaluation report:

"In the relatively short period since its establishment in 2000 DMST has developed remarkable academic competencies and achieved impressive results. In many respects DMST is an exemplar new university unit that developed multidisciplinary excellence according to international standards despite the restrictive conditions of Greek academia. Transferring their substantial experience in some of the best universities in Europe and the US, the team of academics who founded the Department instilled an ethos of collaborative striving for international recognition and local relevance."
